FSSAI issues comprehensive standards for identification of Basmati rice, know what has changed.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India( FSSAI) has for the first time issued complete norms for identification of Basmati rice in an trouble to insure fair trade practices and help contamination. Basmati rice includes brown basmati rice, milled basmati rice, used brown basmati rice and milled used basmati rice. FSSAI has issued these norms through the Food Safety and norms( Food Product norms and Food Additives) First Amendment Regulation, 2023 notified in the review of India.” As per these norms, Basmati rice should have the natural aroma characteristics of Basmati rice and should be free from artificial colours, rubbing instrumentalities and artificial flavourings,” the statement spoke. These norms also define colourful identification and quality parameters for basmati rice, similar as the moderate grain size and extension after cuisine. These norms also talk about the ultimate end of humidity content in the grain, uric acid, presence of imperfect/ damaged granules and other non-basmati rice etc. The Ministry spoke,” The purpose of setting these norms is to establish fair functioning in trade of basmati rice and to cover or protect consumer interest at domestic and global position/level.”
