Before that, assembly elections will be held in 9 states in the year 2023, in the results of which a glimpse of the political picture of the year 2024 may be hidden.

If you look at the figures, in the year 2023, the 9 states where assembly elections are to be held, 116 Lok Sabha seats come. That is, such a picture of public opinion will emerge on 116 seats, from which it can be estimated that what could be the result of the 2024 elections. Among these 9 states, the most important election is Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Telangana and Chhattisgarh. Among them Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka have BJP government while TRS government in Telangana and Congress government in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. Apart from these, Meghalaya, Tripura, Nagaland and Mizoram assembly elections will also be held in 2023. First of all, let’s take a look at how many Lok Sabha seats are there in which state.

Madhya Pradesh

Among the nine states where elections will be held in 2023, Madhya Pradesh has the maximum number of 29 Lok Sabha seats. In the 2018 assembly, the Bharatiya Janata Party emerged as the single largest party but fell short of getting a majority. It got 113 seats out of 230 seats in the assembly. The Congress formed the government with the support of independent MLAs and Kamal Nath became the Chief Minister of the state. In the month of March 2020, Kamal Nath lost the majority and once again the BJP government was formed in the state under the leadership of Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Although the 2019 Lok Sabha

karnataka election

In the 2018 Karnataka assembly elections, BJP emerged as the single largest party but fell nine seats short of the majority mark. The then Governor Vijubhai Vala invited BJP leader Yeddyurappa to form the government. In 2021, the face of the Chief Minister was changed here. Basavaraj Bommai was appointed Chief Minister in place of Yeddyurappa. The 2023 assembly elections will be a big challenge for Basava Raj Bommai. Along with this, an estimate of the trend of public opinion regarding the 2024 Lok Sabha elections will also be available in the state.

Rajasthan Election

In the 2018 assembly elections, the Congress won a majority in Rajasthan by securing 100 seats while the BJP got only 73 seats. Here the custom of changing power every 5 years was maintained. Congress’s Ashok Gehlot took oath as Chief Minister. Once again it is estimated that the public can maintain the custom of changing the power and the BJP government can be formed in the state. However, the change of power in the assembly did not affect the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and the BJP and its ally Rashtriya Loktantrik Dal won all the 25 seats in the Lok Sabha.

Telangana

Telangana has a total of 119 seats in the Legislative Assembly. TRS won a majority in the 2018 assembly elections and formed the government under the leadership of Chandrasekhar Rao. Here BJP could not save its deposit on more than 100 seats, but in the Lok Sabha elections held exactly one year later, the party won 4 seats. The result of the assembly elections in 2023 will certainly present a glimpse of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Chhattisgarh

Assembly elections in Chhattisgarh are also to be held in 2023. In the last assembly elections, the BJP, which was in power for a long time, suffered a major setback and the government was formed in the state under the leadership of the Congress. The Congress won 68 out of 90 seats in the assembly. However, almost a year later, in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP won 9 of the total 11 Lok Sabha seats in the state.

Looking at the past elections, overall it can be said that the results of the assembly elections to be held in 2023 can give an indication of the trends of the voters, but it will be difficult to predict whether the same picture will emerge in the 2024 elections.
